On August 16, we had the pleasure of hosting Adriana Lopez from NBC 5’s Texas Today! After a fun and educational tour of our production facility, she spoke with VP of Operations Lauren Billings about the history of the company, what we’re doing now, and how we make our dinosaurs.
It is true that we build animatronic creatures and host fun events, but one of the key things Lauren wanted to share with everyone is that education is at the heart of everything we do. “You’re never too old to learn something. By opening someone’s mind, you can do anything. You shouldn’t ever stop learning!”
Another point that she wanted to address is a common misconception about dinosaurs. THEY AREN’T JUST FOR KIDS! Yes, kids love dinosaurs, but one of the most common statements we hear from adults when they take a tour of our facility or see our dinosaurs in action at zoos around the globe is, “WOW! I feel like a kid again!” Seeing CGI dinosaurs on the big screen or an illustration in a book is one thing, but to be able to see one with your own eyes transports you to a place of wonder.
Dinosaurs are amazing creatures that have lived for hundreds of millions of years. We are finding new remains every year, and there’s still so much to learn. You don’t need a degree in paleontology to study them, and one of our goals for the future is to get the community more involved in making these discoveries. Together we can uncover so much about Earth’s history.
