We're Back at Auckland Zoo

Our dinosaurs travel a lot, and this is the second year they are in Auckland, New Zealand. With a little flair, we might add.
This year, Auckland Zoo has brought back its Dinosaur Discovery Track, and we are lucky enough to have our dinosaurs featured throughout the exhibit once again. We worked with Auckland Zoo to bring 20 of our animatronics from Greenville, Texas, to Auckland for the seasonal exhibit.
We had the opportunity to work with Auckland Zoo last year for this same event, and we are grateful to be back with them again this season. For those of us in the office, it is always nice to see where our dinosaurs end up, and we are just a bit jealous of our technicians who work so diligently on the installations. I mean, just look at how beautiful this scenery is!
Jokes aside, it really is something we take pride in. A lot of hands touch these dinosaurs before they ever make it to an exhibit. They are built, painted, tested, packed, shipped, installed, and checked again before the public ever gets to see them. By the time one of our dinosaurs is standing in place at a zoo, it has already passed through nearly every part of our team.
That work does not stop mattering once the dinosaurs are on-site. A seasonal exhibit is not just about getting dinosaurs installed one time and calling it done. They have to operate well, fit the space, support the guest experience, and make sense for the institution hosting them. Auckland Zoo bringing back Dinosaur Discovery Track tells us the exhibit worked for them last year, and that means a lot to us here at Billings!
That is the standard we try to build toward and maintain. We want to create dinosaurs that look good, function well, and hold up in the environments they are placed in, all over the world. We also want them to support the larger purpose of the exhibit, whether that is education and conservation, guest engagement, or giving visitors a reason to connect with something they may not have thought much about before walking in. We want to thank Auckland Zoo for bringing us back for another season and for allowing our dinosaurs to be part of Dinosaur Discovery Track once again. We are proud of the work our team put into these animatronics, and we are grateful to see them used in an exhibit that gives visitors a reason to stop, look, learn, and explore.
